Tell us about yourself
I am the Senior Partner of Bookers & Bolton. My legal career dates back to 1991 when I qualified as a solicitor; 4 years after that I joined Bookers and Bolton and I became a partner in 1997.
In which areas of law do you specialise?
My expertise lies in company law and commercial litigation. I deal with a variety of businesses of different sizes and from different industries, and specialise in handling all sorts of complex, in-depth cases.
What do you offer clients of Bookers and Bolton?
I believe that a good solicitor is incredibly knowledgeable in their legal field and confident enough to make difficult decisions on behalf of their clients; and this is what I do. I approach my work with great enthusiasm too, which is a major benefit for any business client that needs a dynamic, hands-on, proactive approach.
I offer a “call in and talk to me” attitude; easy to approach, straight talking and flexible. I’ll go and see clients, or they can come to me if they wish at a time that suits – whatever is best for them and their business.
To help clients get to you know you a bit better, could you answer a few questions about you?
Where did you grow up and what are your earliest memories?
I grew up in Bedford and my earliest childhood memory is of digging holes in the garden.
What was your first job?
I had a summer job as a filing clerk in an insurance company; the pay was poor but we managed to get by on cakes which we’d earn by hitting fictitious targets.
What is your favourite film or TV programme?
La Dolce Vita directed by Fellini because it captures 1960’s Rome with such style and beauty.
Name two things you love most and why.
Surfing, because you have to be at one with the sea and because it requires you to relax and focus. It’s also incredibly physical and slightly dangerous.
What do you dislike most?
Losing.
Do you have any hidden talents?
Yes, but they remain hidden.
What country would you most like to visit and why?
India because I have always wanted to see the Taj Mahal.
What are your personal ambitions?
To see my children grow into great young men and Bookers & Bolton to flourish.
Are you involved in any community activities?
I am a Director of Alton Initiatives Management who employs a town centre manager to promote events and develop the town.
Have you ever written anything that was published in the press?
Yes, “Legal issues in Counselling and Psychotherapy and the Law” which was published in 2002.
